Statement by Jordan at the Fifth Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and other WMD
The conference embodies the region’s commitment to reducing nuclear risks. Establishing the Zone is a joint international responsibility. Israel’s refusal to participate in the conference and join the NPT is a great challenge to regional efforts, undermines the credibility of the nonproliferation regime, and puts an additional burden on regional states for enhancing regional security. The Zone paves the way for building regional cooperation on energy, water security, and climate change.Open document
